'I Chose You' ch 1

I arrived in Konoha, the ninja adopting center.

Traveling all the way from the mist village was quite a journey-
I barely got any sleep! But it was all going to be worth it, I was
going to own my very own ninja companion!

Well, I wouldn't really call them pets being they can change from
they're tiny forms to their human forms but- things are a little
different in this world.

It's sad to say but these powerful creatures are treated lower
than humans.

Some people even say they're lucky to get to be adopted.

They're great ancestors (powerful demons) used to rule the world
with blood and genocide, finally us human (but powerful) ninjas
developed our own techniques and won the great
battle against demons for good.

As punishment from long ago... These powerful creatures were forced
into poverty, staying in adoption shelters waiting for they're
new homes. I know it's not the poor half demons of today that
deserve such treatment.

I wish to create a place where we are all equal, all safe and loved.

My dream.

I walked into the big city gates following my maps instructions.

I came upon the Konoha adoption center.

Pushing the wooden double doors open slowly I stepped in
without a sound.

The place looked decent... for a demon adoption center.

They were still held behind bars like prisoners, waiting for they're
lucky (or unlucky) day.

The women at the front desk greeted me with a thin smile.

How could she be ok when they were practically living in JAIL CELLS?!

"Hello, welcome to the adoption center... may I walk you around the
premises? Group A is spending time outside they're all around your
age, you can look at them through our double window and I'll see
what I can do for you."

I nodded and smiled back curiously, but inside my heart clenched.

Following her down a dull corridor she led me to a rectangular glass
window.

I looked outside and watched them play.

They looked like any normal people playing, a couple had strange eyes
and hair but for the most part they looked regular.

Most were playing soccer on the grassy field. All laughing like there
wasn't a care in the world.

"They look so care-free, I'm glad they have a nice place out there..."

At least they get to play outside.

The women chuckled and watched them along with me.

"Oh dear, we make sure that the demons here are happy- it's just.
With all the recent pay-cuts they're rooms are less to be desired.
Konoha adoption center tries it's best. Even the food is ok!"

I smiled.

Maybe this was a better place for most demons.

Even if the rooms weren't so great.

The demons continued to play and laugh, enjoying they're free
time and each other.

But I noticed one sitting away from the others...

He had blond hair and sat in his un-beta (tiny) form. His dingy
orange tail lay as low as his ears and he sat alone quite a ways
into the small forest.

I pointed to him through the glass.

"Who's that one? Sitting alone over there?"

The women looked his direction and her warm smile hardened.

"That's Naruto, he's a direct decedent of the great Demon Kyuubi. Che-"

She scowled in disgust while looking at him.

"So... why aren't the other's playing with him?"

She looked at me astonished wide eyed, like I asked an
ignorant question.

"Why- noone, not even regular demons want to be around
that boy. He is a monster among monsters to both demons and
humans!"

I bit my tongue.

Monster...

I HATED that word.

So hurtful...

Stabbing and alone.

After staring at him sitting there for a couple seconds I turned back
to the receptionist.

"May I go out there?"

She blinked still in slight shock but nodded none the less.

"You may- go out the back door on your left if you want to talk to 'him'."

She pointed to a doorway leading towards the forest. And after
bowing curtly I turned my heel and snuck out the door.

Stealthily I sneaked my way towards the blonde. Unnoticed by the others.

When I got close enough I tapped him on the shoulder.

"Excuse me?"

He seemed startled and immediately turned to me.

"Wh- what do you want?"

His defensive attitude hurt me.

He probably developed it from the way people talked to him.

"Hey... I'm supergal12000, but you can call me Air. All my close friends call me Air."

Still cautious he looked away but answered:

"Naruto Uzumaki."

I don't think he realized I was an adopting human yet because he
probably would've acted nicer if he knew. I smiled and sat next to
him. I noticed his fox tail shift back and forth curiously.

"So... what are you doing by yourself?"

He scoffed and frowned.

"Ch- , don't you know? It's because I'm a monster. Nobody wants
to be with me."

I placed my hand onto his, grabbing it while squeezing gently.

"Do you trust me?"

He stared at me shocked and slightly afraid.

"I... I barely know you."

I squeezed again this time firmer.

More sure.

"Then, can you trust me?"

For a moment his mouth stood agape, but he closed it and nodded.

"First turn to your regular form, your going to walk with me."

With a hesitant poof his small body turned to human size and his
hand filled mine.

With a jolt I pulled him up to a standing position.

"Come with me."

I tugged at his hands but he pulled back stuck in place.

"But- what if they see?"

"...See what?"

He looked away ashamed.

"See you with me? They'll bully you too..."

I stared at him for a moment rage building up inside of me.

Things shouldn't be this way- not even for demons.

With a strong tug I pulled him out in the open across the field.

The demons playing soccer stopped and stared as we trotted
across the grass.

I burst through the door I came out from and stared the women
in the eyes.

"I want this one."

Naruto coughed in shock and gaped at me as did the lady.

"You- you want 'that' one? But-"

"Yes, I Arianna want this demon Uzumaki Naruto- to be my ninja companion."

I looked in her eyes and held his tighter.

Things felt right this way.

After a couple moments she pulled out what looked to bee scissors.

She reached for Naruto's other hand and clipped off the
bracelet for the residents.

She pulled out some paper work after leading us to the front lobby
and I signed the papers. With a flash of light my signature appeared
on the nape of his neck like a tattoo, finalizing him as mine.

My new companion still seemed shocked and frozen solid.

"He is now yours, remember- no matter what he does... you are
liable for the consequences along with him."

I grinned and gave her the thumbs up.

"I know- Naruto is mine now, I chose him for a reason."

We walked out hand in hand and I guided him to the lodge adopting
visitors are provided in Konoha.

We sat down in the comfy sofa of the tiny cottage we were given
to stay in.

"You- you adopted me... I- why? There are much better demons to get, and I'm a mo-"

I covered his mouth motioning for him to be quiet.

"Naruto, in this world we live in- I believe in second chances despite the
circumstance or race. You deserved better than that- so I need you."

A tear rolled down his face.

"You.... need me?"

"Yeah- you don't have to be alone any more... you are mine forever!"

Understand?"

I grinned a toothy grin and waited for his response.

He burst out crying, clutching my shirt smiling.

"Yeah.... I do."

I hugged his head and looked up.

"Good, because I'm supposed to meet my friend here soon- she just
adopted too, his names Sasuke- have you heard of him?"
