You gulped looking to the grasses awaiting for him to appear.

"….."

"…."

"Mhhh….." (the quiet murrs of the hunter)

"Wh-he's in there I know it!" you spoke blushing as you motioned to the grass.

You all waited in silence a soft wind blowing.

"…. Well… we'll keep an eye out for him… lets check up on the other two." The older male couldn't help but chuckle quietly, much to your embarrassment as you cursed the other for making you look crazy.

With a nod you stepped towards the emt car looking to the others, Chris seeming to slowly blink looking to you, then the hunter poking his head from behind your leg.

"Why…. _______ why…. Is he…." you smiled, glad he was making to looking to the hunter as you stepped a foot into the car giving him a stern look.

"Stay."

"Mh-" you thrust your hand in front of his face; frowning.

"No- stay."

It growled with it's mouth closed backing up crouched as it waited still in view a few paces from the car. Robert was looking at Kyousuke who seemed to have a light cut on the back of his head, but the elder reassured your fears as he found a pulse.

"He'll be alright…"

You opened a water bottle pressing it to Chris' lips making him drink it; the water dribbled out the sides of his lips before he swallowed, coughing a little.

"All good…" he spoke before you smiled nodding scooting back as you hopped out the vehicle looking around cautionary for the smoker.

"Jerk…" you grumbled softly to the wind before looking to Robert.

"Well….. I mean…we can't stay here… if they flood around the car at night I can't see us getting out without a heavy scratch or two." Robert spoke looking around his arm still bleeding.

You pulled out some gauze and disinfectant wipes beginning to clean it as he sat down in the van his eyes watching the hunter sitting animal-style waiting there his eyes still invisible through the shadow as he was looking off to the side sniffing the air lightly his brown hair catching in the sun.

"If he would just come out…" you mumbled leaning back as you looked at your handy-work. You were getting pretty good.

"…You think… maybe he's a cure…?" he asked, his eyes giving off the air of wandering thought.

You looked to him clicking the white container closed setting it in the duffel bag before sitting next to him your feet barely dangling upon the edge.

You thought about it some nights…

"Chris too… he…"

You nodded, looking to the Hunter as his eyes flickered to the two, watching him idly a small growl coming from him before he crawled over to you. He turned his head looking towards Robert tilting his body away from him as he sat besides your feet.

You smiled gently keeping your hands in your lap as you looked onwards.

"I think there's more like him Robert…but… I'm a little worried…" you looked down to the infected glancing at you as if to make sure you were there before letting his eyes scope the area on guard.

"I know." He looked around at the grassy hills in the far east sighing.

It would have been really nice and peaceful if the zombie-apocalypse thing didn't exist...

"I don't know what they'll do with him or him… hopefully find a cure…" his voice was quiet as he sighed again, looking down into his lap.

You had wondered since first meeting the blonde male.

"What if they-… I couldn't stand…." You took a breath trying to word yourself right- lest the thin line between right and wrong be broken.

"I know."

He ran a hand through his hair giving a sad smile to you.

"I can't say this is what I expected out of life- but… I think… I can say we live… every day." He chuckled lightly before hopping off the car with you following, the mood brightening.

As he surveyed the emt he rested his hands at his hips looking at it up and down.

"You think it's better to leave it?" he asked looking to you.

You looked at it and all its heaviness and nodded.

"The other two aren't dead just yet- I'll carry Kyousuke and some of the bags- can you get a few? We better hurry on the road… you think you can make it?" he looked to you cocking his gun as his green eyes caught light in the soon to be sunset.

You smiled.

"I didn't plan on sleeping much anyways." You spoke going over to the car, grabbing some bags giving Chris the IV pole patients use for a temporary weapon since he gave up his in the.. noble fight. He was quiet and fully conscious now, his eyes looked at the hunter quietly then Kyousuke.

"Alright- lets head out." He held him on his back with the duffel on his arm as you held one duffel and Chris with the backpack of food.

The walk was pleasant.

~

"So you were a-"

He smiled shaking his head by your outburst.

"Only for a little bit! My dad's the type to want a well rounded man… and he guessed at the time I wasn't going to get any bigger so… smarts….chess president is a leadership position." He smiled as he recalled his old high-school days.

"I just can't imagine it…" you smiled trying to understand his description of his former self. He took note of the look on your face as you looked up at the sky giggling lightly.

"Hey- not all of us were complete geeks… I just went to a few tournaments and such- I wasn't that great… it was all the smiles to the girls that got me that one." He grinned looking at the grass as the long black path down and up the hill looked rosy with the sun dipping its fiery light into the earths horizon.

"Oh so you were a playboy." You mused tilting your head as he laughed shaking his head.

"Not one date- I was stupid about girls then! And right after I got into the special forces right after college, you don't think about that stuff…" he spoke his voice softening.

You glanced at him with a small smile as he stared forward in much better spirits.

"Hey- you see that?" he pointed to the right as he gripped Kyousuke hopping him up a little higher as he slept peacefully.

"I think so… a little barn?" you spoke slowly coming to a stop.

"Looks like a barn too…" he looked from the sun to the house. "We should stop the night there- if its dark we hardly have enough energy or bullets for all that." You nodded in agreeal checking your guns looking to Chris.

With a nod you followed him into the waist-high grass the stalks slowly getting taller as you looked around frantically not liking the vision impairment.

Every slide of the tender green grass made your body lock up like a turtle the hunter standing in front of you behind  Robert as Chris took the back.

"Almost there…" you smelled something not quite fresh but chose not to bring it up for fear of what would be said.

He continued pushing through as the world became a light purple the sun still shining its last drop seeming to hold up by your prayers of a light before he broke through the grass a dirt clearing surrounding the house.

"Farmhouse." He spoke stepping forward the wooden floorboards creaking as he looked to the door the simple doily white curtain with small red roses on them stained with blood. The house overall was a sweet house on the prairie type of theme- two stories with what looked to be nice solid walls despite the dusty porch. If it wasn't for the blood it would have been perfect….

If only…

He looked to you setting Kyousuke down whispering to you.

"Me'n Chris'll go inside- you keep your eyes peeled for him, come on." He motioned for the blonde male to come forth with a light look of seriousness as he pulled out a flashlight handing it to him while he creeped inside.

You hated being out here like this- but the hunters eyes glowed a pale red looking around sniffing the air backing up into your legs as you looked around as well.

"Good boy." You spoke quietly turning on your gun light keeping it pointed down just as the last beam of the sun was hidden behind a hill.

You could hear the creaking of the house as they walked around it- it was only a one story with what looked to be an attic.

"Hey there…"

You flinched flashing up your gun watching as the male came from the shadows his yellow eyes glowing like the moon.

"You- why didn't you come out earlier!" you hissed quietly as the hunter growled lightly sitting on his bottom sniffing the air still.

He chuckled leaning against the wooden banister of the house his mouths tongue coming out wiggling in front of you teasingly before he pulled it back in.

"I don't work in groups….now pairs… that's something I can get used to." He spoke his deep voice dripping honey as you cursed your cheeks looking around him.

"P-put that away… this is serious…" you mumbled holding your gun.

He scoffed pushing himself up coming towards you much to the hunters and your discontent. His arm (surprisingly very warm) ran across the whole field.

"See all this..?" he spoke leaning down to speak in your ear leaning his chin on your shoulder.

"…..yes…?"

"They'd get lost in this in under a minute…" he spoke before leaning up sliding back. You could hear the vacant sound of footsteps trodding down stairs as you watched him seep into the fields blanket of grass.

"He… mm… fine…" you huffed lightly feeling a bit more secure as you looked behind you just as the door burst open a dirty looking Robert and a calm blondie standing behind waving happily.

You looked to Kyousuke having heard a soft groaning noise before his eyes slowly opened their dark orbs locking onto you.

"Where are we?" he asked his voice groggy.

You smiled softly pulling a water-bottle out cracking open its thin plastic cap handing it to him with a small smile.

"You passed out so we had to keep walking, you feeling okay?" you smiled lightly taking the bottle as he handed it back to you drinking the rest.

Water was always refreshing.

You looked to introduce the hunter but he seemed to be gone… you were a bit saddened by that.

"Mm- the place is clear, there wasn't even any dead bodies- but we checked all the rooms and closets, something would have popped out if it heard us." Robert spoke holding open the door. You nodded smiling lightly making sure the younger one could get up as you stepped inside noting they had placed blue glowsticks in certain places to illuminate the house.

It was just the way it portrayed itself on the outside; everything conservative in fresh (well dusty) cherrywood furniture and clean linen doilies atop certain counters to deter dirt and other things to tarnish the lofty varnished wood. There was a glass cupboard filled with china that had most likely only ever been used once or twice- as well as a few vases filled with long since dried up flowers.

"This is nicer than I thought." You smiled setting your bags down in a corner.

Kyousuke stuck to you side his small hand reaching up to hold yours as he coughed.

"Can we get rid of all this dust?" he asked lifting up a particularly ancient looking teaspoon on the counter table.

"Maybe upstairs… but I don't think we should leave anything open for tonight… we'll be leaving tomorrow then?" you looked to the oldest.

Meanwhile he was looking at a few busted pictures against the wall lining the stairway.

"We…. Can spend the night…" he mumbled his fingers lining the wooden edges before he looked to you.

"Its alright if we sleep in one bedroom together right?" he spoke on a sidenote unclipping his army belt slapping it over his shoulder.

You looked up to him nodding as you made sure the windows and doors were shut and partially covered before walking up with him.

"That room… don't go in there- I'll clean it up or something but don't go in there." He spoke pointing to the first room in front of the stairs.

You could smell dried blood and nodded.

No need to tell you twice.

The youngest males eyes looked to you then the room before slipping past the others swinging open the door.

"Oh gross- theres blood all over…" he spoke a sharp little smile flickering on his face. "I wonder what hap-"

Your hand had reached out to pull him out the room but it was too late- your eyes caught the sight as well.

"Oh….ohmygod…." your eyes widened straight to the bed.

It was a pool of dried blood- down from the foot of it up the headboard. And then… the wall-

"It looks like wings or something…." He smiled wlaking in further.

Yes it did…. Angel wings almost…. what was this? You shivered and bit your lip determined not to leave the little one alone stepping in.

"Maybe someone blew their head open with a shotgun-"

That wasn't helpful.

"Kyousuke…. Isn't this a bit too… morbid to be looked at for you…?" you asked tentatively noticing how there was somehow spots of blood on the ceiling as well- but they looked strategic, like a connect-the-dots with no picture in mind.

"Miss…. We shoot monsters in the face- I don't think I'm too young for anything…." You were still looking at the ceiling- not noticing those eyes… they looked at you and seemed to shine in the moonlight filtering through the wood covered window cracks.

"Or anyone…." He whispered.

You blinked looking to him.

"Hm?" with a shake of his head he took your hand walking you out the room with a close of the door behind.

"Nothing…"

And you entered the room with the others.

It was a nice room actually- bigger than the others with a big king sized simple bed on dark wood with warm blankets with tiny flowers on them.

"Master bedroom." Robert smiled as he was eating some chips.

You nodded sitting down in a chair next to a wooden writing desk and looked around.

There was a little balcony and a wooden door with glass (boarded up) that you could open to the outside. The moon never gave up shining through any possible crack in the wood as you surveyed the rest. Robert was sitting on a small couch next to the balcony doors and chris was looking in the bathroom saying something about a double toilet and a real bathtub.

"My grandma used to have one like this-  it has feet!" he giggled pointing to the little golden "feet" at the bottom of the porcelain-like tub then the golden pole and shower head.

"That's not a double toilet- it's just an older kind- the top part is for when you go with more… heavier a flush." He spoke trying not to gross anyone out.

You could barely hear them as they talked still mystified (and creeped out) by the room. It was as if someone strategically shot a person to make the wings- or something like that…. But why was there spots on the wall so uniformly placed? It didn't make sense….

You were brought back to your senses by a warm can of chili being pressed on your arm.

"Ah…"

He smiled to you holding up his lighter.

"The only use I've ever found for this thing." He smiled going back to his bag of food.

Chris came back in and took some Tw*nkies while the little one simply sat on the floor organizing a bag of sk*ttles on a napkin by color.

"The water works guys- take a bath one by one." The eldest spoke looking to Kyousuke before he could interject.

"We have the whole night and their powered by the aqueduct nearby so everyone can go alone." He spoke in a light warning tone as the other sneered blushing lightly eating a handful of green sk*ttles.

"Rob you go first, that way you'll be here with the others when its later on in the night." You spoke nodding to him.

He agreed silently giving a cursory glance at the other two males in the room before walking in closing the door as the water soon started.

"I hope he washes his clothes too…" everyone's clothes were pretty filthy.

With that thought in mind you got up going to the closet to see if you could find some clothes.

It was all little house on the prairie style. Overalls and dungaroos and calico dresses.

"Guys- pick out what you're going to wear for tonight, I'll be washing the clothes." You spoke picking out a white large work shirt for Robert and (luckily) some white boxers setting them carefully on the bed.

"For him…. And…" you turned back around looking at the distasteful modest dresses picking out a long white slip- it came with one of those shower curtain looking hats but you were heavily against it only choosing that and a folded pair of underwear.

The other two picked out shirts- which for the size would be very big on them, none the less you smiled looking as Chris put on the shower-hat before setting your pajamas aside.

"Underwear too- just wear boxers." You spoke handing them both a pair.

Robert came out soon after in his dirty clothes before you shook your head handing him the bundle of new clothes pushing him back in.

"Wash your clothes and wear those for the night, and retake a bath." You spoke smiling as he blinked with slight shock.

Click- you shut the door on his face.

"Now." With that being said everyone set their clothes on the bed and were looking to you.

"Keep guns in hand- well Chris uhm…. Mm… you can use th- where did you get that paddle?" you blushed seeing he had a large wooden thick paddle in his hand.

"….I found it under the bed." He spoke sitting back down.

You shook your head taking your guns sitting back in the desk chair listening to the night and glancing out the window.

All the dead grass and corn fields… you could see right over them to the mountainside- which looked to be cradling the moon before it lifted up up up into the sky further from your watchful eyes.

Rob came out with a satisfied sigh of cleanliness as you motioned for Chris to go in handing him his clothes.

"Just give me your dirty clothes after- I'll wash them. Same for you Kyousuke." You smiled before the other closed the door and you sat on the bed.

The raven haired male sat on the couch his guns at his side as he ran a hand through his hair.

"I never thought I would feel this clean again." He chuckled quietly as you smiled.

"I can't wait for mine- you left your clothes in there?" you spoke looking to him.

"I rinsed them out and cleaned them- they're hanging on a pole in there."

With a nod you looked outside noting the very slight breeze making the clothes sway.

"We should hang them up outside- on that clothesline." You spoke pointing to the olden style metal wheel turn in the corner of the balcony and the metal wire. A basket of pins sat next to the door on the inside.

"Good idea."

And all was peaceful as the others showered.

With you taking the other two's clothes you hurried with your own washing with the lavender smelling bar of soap and began first rinsing them all out.

It was pretty gross- the tub already had a light pink ring from all the blood and grime of the others- you shivered turning the water hotter making sure everything was rinsed out and you were completely before using the soap to scrub the clothes. Robert must not have to spare the germs from his own so with a light reach over you began washing his with the bar as well.

It took you about an hour to get everything as good as it could be but it was worth it.

Ringing them out you pulled on the white nightgown holding their damp clothes in your arms as you stepped out.

"I'll do the pins and you guys hand me the clothes- there's not that much." He spoke standing up.

And thus you four made a conveyor belt of passing the clothes to Robert in which he hung them securely to the wire out to dry.

"Good job team." You smiled plopping down on the bed with a light sigh. Even the room smelled fresher- and with a check from Roberts watch and everyone being tired you looked to the younger ones motioning for them to hop in the bed as you sat on the foot.

"Me and Robert will take turns- you two get your sleep. Rob I can take the first watch." You spoke looking to him checking the time again.

It was about 10:30 pm already.

"I'll watch for… 2:00pm alright?" you spoke looking at him leaning on the couch.

"Mm… but that only leaves me 3 and a half hours- _______ I can do" you shook your head sitting up not wanting to disturb the others before waving him off.

"You had to carry the log to here." You mentioned Kyousuke as he snored quietly.

He chuckled before nodding setting his watch handing it to you. The old routine.

It only took moments before he was asleep- just you and the moonlight seeping in long slivers into the bluish room.

"Mm…." with a small breath of peace you sat over at the desk to better keep yourself awake as you held your gun.

The night went on…

You found yourself no longer worried about falling asleep- because that other room still miffed you- it was too clean- (the patterns) too  uniform and too creepy to get any thoughts out.

You imaginative mind swirled to the thought of a zombie angel- that was just crazy… you shivered hugging your arms as your ears perked to the sound of something scratching.

"Ah-" with your guns up you looked- it was coming from the balcony- but that made no sense… and with quiet feet not wanting to wake anyone up you went over to the door looking down through the wooden slits.

"Mmh…"  Oh.

"Oh.." it was the hunter.

"I.. I cant let you in…" you spoke sadly looking out the door.

He would make too much noise… and-

"Mmhhh…." It almost made a whimpering noise before you bit your lip.

"W-well…" the sound of Kyousuke turning in his sleep made you rethink.

"I- …No." and with that you stepped back sitting down.

His scratching wouldn't stop- and the whimpering grew louder.

With a roll of your eyes you looked to the others trying to find something to restrain him before you looked to see the collar on Chris' neck.

….

*sigh*

After crawling over him taking that collar you looked for something to tie it to…. Well your chair was right next to the bathroom….

Alright.

So this was all pretty stupid since it could wake and freak out the others but- what was worse when he kept scratching on the doors whimpering mixed with growling.

You slipped outside with the collar in your hands holding it out as you kneeled next to him.

He rubbed his head on your clean clothes making you shudder a bit before tentatively putting your hand on his head making him growl a little before you showed him the collar.

"P…put this on…" you whispered holding it out to him.

What were you doing…

He took it with his mouth and began chewing on the thick leather.

"N-no… ah…" you took it from him your thighs killing you as you held it open locking it on your neck to show him.

"See?"

He stared at you making a light sniffing noise before you did it about three times before handing it to him.

He sniffed it then the air in front of you before holding it in his hands in a different way.

"Go on…" he growled lightly stepping back in his crouch before you watched fascinated a she began reaching to himself with the collar making you hear the satisfying click as he looked to you.

"G-good boy!" you spoke smiling happily.

A ghost of a smile showed on his face through the shade of his hoodie- his eyes were still blood red and they glowed in the shadows.

Standing up you gulped taking the rope Rob had in his duffel bag and leaned forward to place it through the metal loop.

Another cautious growl before you showed him both hands slowly getting the tether through with a sigh of relief.

It was pretty easy from there- you guided him in making him not smell Roberts boots before tying him short to the bathroom pole just enough leeway to sit beside you.

"Mh…" he seemed a bit angry for what you did but that calmed down as he got the quiet nature of the room.

Soon he sat down on his bottom leaning against the chair leg and you his hands sitting in front of him between his stretched out legs.

"Good…" and you tentatively reached down to pet him again- nice and easy…. He allowed you to. Even after a while he pressed his head against you as you let out a sigh of understanding having your gun on the desk as you looked out the locked balcony door.

At least he could tell you all when there was danger coming.

2:30pm came too soon.

And when Robert woke up you were already asleep with the Hunter watching and sniffing diligently. Luckily Robert noticed the rope and the collar or he would have shot him- there was a mutual understanding of not killing each other for your sake as he watched around… he was tired though.

And  despite the zombie in the room the green eyed male fell back asleep.

~

6:45am.

You had awoken to the sound of the tiny beeping in the watch on your wrist.

Rob hat awoken as well making you get up.

"You should probably wake up Kyousuke and tell him about this guy or- …I'll wake him up, you protect him, that kids crazy.." he spoke in a quiet yawn leaning forward as the sleeping hunter growled quietly on your leg his raspy voice heaving a little.

His hood was JUST about to slide off too- when his eyes weren't open and his teeth weren't snarling… he looked pretty normal… with the save of the gray skin and all.

"Kyousuke.. hey bro- wake up…" he shook the others shoulder lightly making him sit up.

"What…?" he yawned annoyed before his eyes saw the creature by his leg.

His mouth was promptly covered as Robert whispered a few things to him.

You petted the infected's head hearing him groan a little before nodding to the other.

Good. Everyone understood.

And with that you slowly got up not disturbing the other as you and Kyousuke brought in the dry clothes the scent comforting as you handed the other two theirs.

"I feel much better today… your friend here kept watch the whole night." He spoke taking off his shirt placing on the other.

"Yea… I sort of fell asleep- you get used to the breathing when you know its him." You spoke turning away as you put on your shirt and jacket.

He nodded being the first to finish as he laced up his boots getting the bags ready.

"I think we should….. hm.." he sat down thinking.

"Well we have two options, we could stay here another night and get all our strength back- or we could head out today, I'm not sure where the next stop of a city is- the marker map showed a long road to the two places and this is it." He spoke sighing softly.

Kyousuke groaned and threw his head back into the pillows.

"You made us all get dressed and we can stay here another night? Stupid." The older male made an exhasperated aface and turned to you.

"You want to? I mean… we got al ittle bit more sleep but my shoulder- and everyone else could use another night…this place seems safe enough." He spoke patting the wooden beams.

You looked around at your tired comrades- everyone had dark circles under their eyes. And you yourself only got 4 hours of sleep at best with all that running and stress.

"Maybe we can… lets reinforce the house today and sleep the rest of the day after." You spoke with a determined nod from him.

"Theres a big shed next to the house- we can break the wood off and make barriers to keep the house safer for the night.

And with that you got up untying the hunter slowly waking him up as Kyousuke slept with Chris sitting up rubbing his head.

"You two rest- just make sure to call us if you see anything." You spoke latching your gun.

Chris nodded to you noticing the hunter with his collar giving a slight frown.

"I'll watch."

You untied the leash from the collar when you both were outside following the other to the shed. It held a rusty padlock that was easily hit off with the butt of his shotgun making him kick open the door.

Noone in there but the dust and the tools.

He smiled looking around.

"We could use an ax… and  shovel… Chris can use it. He handed you the shovel to hold while the hunter stood outside smelling the air.

You looked around the hanging screwdrivers and saws and all types of things around.

He shook the large box of nails placeing them in his bag as he took a couple things as well.

"Philips-head screwdriver and a regular one… oh and a hammer-" with that you took a small circular can of oil capping it before setting it in your bag as you two walked out.

"You can pretty much pull the wood off its pretty poorly done- ah… you know what actually I'll unnail the wood and you gather it in a pile. When we have enough we can get the kids to start carrying them inside." You nodded looking up out the window that was to the hallway.

"I'll go tell them and open some of the windows, we need to be able to communicate." You spoke jogging inside.

After opening the one hallway window you went into the room where the others lay just where you found them with Chris having fallen asleep as you rolled your eyes.

"Hey guys- we'll be gathering up wood to reinforce the house- when I call you through the window keep one gun in your hand and get ready to start hauling the supplies in." you spoke walking out the door.

You heard a garbled reply before slipping back out beginning to look at the wood.

It was fairly new- it seemed that the person put enough varnish to ward of splinters so you didn't need gloves- but you did need to watch out for the rough edges.

Working from the roof down the daylight sun began to beat upon you two making you wipe your brow. It was a good thing for the breeze or you would have had a heart-attack.

"That enough?" you looked to him as he yanked another nail out with the hammer.

"Yeah- I'll call em'out."

"Guys- it's time."

And it only took a moment for them to get outside as if they were already at the door.

"That was fast…" you mused handing Chris a uniform pile of wood about one arms-length across.

He had a pistol in his hand that you hoped he knew how to use and when not to use as he nodded.

"Set them on the table in the dining room."

Kyousuke seemed eager enough to take a big pile he almost couldn't handle being it was taller then him and helped take them in.

By around 6 o'clock there was a hefty pile of wood and a almost half of a shed missing.

"Good work guys- now, I found another hammer- _________ you can start that and Kyousuke and Chris, you help me and her hold up the wood." he spoke with the rest nodding.

Teamwork came naturally when it was something this important.

The hunter stayed nearby and out of the way occasionally running out the house jumping on the roof to smell the air, he was a good guard.

First came the front door- then came all the windows in the kitchen and living room, then came the windows in the other room. Your ears grew accustomed to the constant rhythmic banging of a head on a nail.
And with only a few whacks on your thumb that you nearly escaped everything was fortified by 9pm and everyone was exhausted as you all regrouped back into the room with the hunter tied to the pole again- with a little more leeway to roam and smell the room.

He seemed happy just to be in the company of others these days.

"My arms are gonna fall off." The youngest spoke laying on the bed his eyes closing.

Chris looked at his arms likening them to spaghetti as they swayed when he walked.

You could feel your arm muscles pulsing from the strain- they were a bit shakey too from all the clanging as well you rubbed your upper arm.

"Mine too- it's a good thing I still worked out when I got out the service." He laughed tiredly laying on the couch.

You felt the desk chair was too hard on your bottom and sat at the edge of the bed with the other two behind you as you pet the hunter.

"You think he can watch for the night?" you spoke looking to the other.

"Yeah he could- but does he need sleep too?" he looked to the male whom was breathing softly against your hand.

"Mm.. that's true…"

The hunter looked up to you then the other in confusion somehow realizing this was about him.

He crawled over to sit in the bathroom door sniffing the air before looking to you both.

"I don't think he'll sleep if we are." You spoke nodding.

"Plus I'm not too sure zombies need to sleep…. He doesn't seem tired.." you looked to him before thinking.

"You think they eat people food?" you spoke tilting your head.

You blinked opening up a bag of cookies holding it in the air in front of him.

His nose immediately caught it making him crawl over sniffing the air.

His nose touched it snuffling lightly before his mouth opened those sharp teeth showing as he snatched it from your hand scampering back to the back of the bathroom where he held it sniffing it before gobbling it in one bite chewing with his mouth open.
"Mmmm….." and you watched with curiosity as you took another cookie about to eat it not noticing how fast he was to come back opening his mouth reaching forward to take that as well before you giggled handing him the bag looking to Robert.

"Yeah he can eat normal food."

It was so strange to think about though.

"Why don't they eat normal food?" he spoke out the question your mind was making as you nodded.

"Well… we are omnivores (meat + vegetation) so maybe we simply go back to more animalistic states… which is meat." He spoke looking out the cracks of the wood.

"Makes sense…. Eat whatever is considered food." You spoke pulling out a can of string beans handing him one as well.

He nodded cracking the tab open taking a plastic spoon out.

"So this is pretty much going to be an easy night." He spoke leaning back.

"You might jinx it." You teased as you ate a bite.

It was cold but food was food.

The bag of cookies were soon vanquished and you looked to the hunter raising a brow before taking out a water bottle opening it as you drank slow pulling back with a pop of satisfaction as you looked to him.

"Want some water…? Waaaater…." You stressed the word holding it out gingerly waiting for him to approach the half filled plastic bottle.

He licked the plastic at first growling as if you tricked him before you held up your other hand reaching for the bottle holding it with two to show him.

He looked at your hand then his own- sitting still for a good 3 minutes before sitting up from his hunched crouch holding up his hand.

It had a couple red scratches on it and the nails were sharp as well but her grabbed it squeezing a bit to hard making a very quiet version of his scream as the cool water spilled over his hand.

"Its those new 25% less plastic bottles." You spoke looking to Robert.

"They always do that to me too." He chuckled taking a sip of his own water still watching.

It crawled back to the back of the bathroom again Robert sitting besides you to watch before his trembling hand came up to pour the water all over his face his mouth open making him shake his head turning it back in upright position only 1/4th left.

He seemed to survey it his pinkish grey tongue trying to shove into the little hole growling as that didn't work either.

It was almost as if he was trying to remember- soft grunts of frustration and confusion as he finally started tilting it just a little bit his mouth open as he set the opening to rest on his lips before pouring the rest to his mouth swallowing hungrily.

"Mm." he licked his lips and then was done- his eyes caught yours and he crawled back to you handing you the bottle before going back to the entrance of the bathroom standing guard his sniffing quietly audible before he settled down in his regular sitting position looking around the room casually.

"I guess that's our cue to go to sleep." You spoke softly looking to Rob.

He nodded gong back over to the couch seemingly closing his eyes as you laid sideways on the couch your gun in your hand as you faced the doorway closing your eyes.

Sleep came for a little bit.

~

"A-ahh….." you moaned softly in your sleep.

Something warm was on your stomach- or near it you couldn't really tell.

Something warm and moving….

You groaned softly still in your sleepy haze.

"Mm…"

What you didn't really register was that someone was under your jacket and shirt- licking your stomach.

Go figure.

~

At first it was just a light curiosity- the smell of you didn't effect him so much.

The hunter knew you weren't too keen on being touched- just like him.

But by the middle of the night when all was asleep… the scent was stronger and the urge to cover himself in it was there. He crawled forward slowly- his body knowing how to not make any noise as the scent grew more prominent.

He wondered how the other males could not smell it- but that was fine, he wanted it for himself anyways. Untainted.

It began with a simple need to be closer- that soon turned to shoving his head against your crotch that then went to nuzzling his head under your shirt-

He was intoxicated in the smell… it was warm and sweet and comforting- it was hot and attractive.

His tongue glazed up your bellybutton overly warm and wet- he tried to slip in deeper at such a weird angle his ears always checking to see if anyone was alert- he could tell by the breathing.

All was quiet.

Safe.

His head traveled up and down the smooth expanse of stomach- licking up the warm flesh temptingly nibbling on it a little as he got to your hip bone on the left sucking it softly.

"M-mm?"

Oh.

Whoops…

He didn't care at this point- he was drunk in the perfume of female scent.

~

"Wh- nnh~" you moaned softly against his mouth your eyes widening trying to keep quiet as you looked down noticing it was the hunter scrambling childishly to get deeper under your shirt making your blush.

You didn't' want anyone to see this- you shivered a warm breath leaving you as he licked closer up your body.

Was he going to….

"B-bad boy…" you whimpered meekly his tongue laving up your sides before he went back down licking out your belly button.

Your toes tingled and clenched and you felt something hot pool in your lower abdomen.

He had to stop.

By then your hands pressed on his shoulders as his hands gripped your shirt a little before pulling back with a tiny quiet growl.

"G-go lay down…" you spoke trying to be as dominant as possible with the shake in your voice.

He growled before you sat up frowning at him making him crawl back to his spot laying down looking at you.

You sighed softly your stomach a warm dampness that made you shiver as you dried it with the fabric before trying to lay back down.

Thirty minutes past and you thought to other things again.

"________?" your eyes opened as you looked to the noise.

It was Robert.

"I.. ah.. s-sorry for waking you up like this but…" you looked to him the hunters eyes gently flickering to his direction as you scooted towards him at the corner of the bed looking to him.

"What is it?" he seemed to be in a small cold sweat.

"I ah… I had a dream… I think it has to do with what we talked about yesterday…" he spoke.

Your mind glazed over your conversation at the EMT car.

"You mean… about what they might do to Chr-" he nodded making you stop in your words.

He nodded sighing in a strained way running his hands through his hair.

"I just… I had a thought that… maybe we wont help them by bringing them in… but… what could we do…. We cant just leave them…the dream ________- it was…" you nodded sadly placing your hand on his knee making him look up.

"We can figure something out now… maybe… we can make them wait somewhere- and find out what they do to their infected… then bring them in or something…. I'm just worried they wont let us out once we get in…" you spoke frowning sighing as this grew into a more uppergrade-scale problem.

"That could work…but we need something to communicate with them… and I don't think they'll just let us come with them to see all the research being done… maybe we could pose as doctors or something… how would they know?" he spoke before shaking his head offering a sad chuckle.

"This is sounding more like a movie and less like reality…" he looked at the hunter sniffing the door.

"But its true…"

You nodded beginning to think of a plan.

"You think they'll allow phones or pagers perhaps?" you spoke leaning up at the thought.

"Well I'm sure they'll try to take our guns away since they don't want people to start shooting each other…but I don't know maybe they wont…" he spoke sighing softly.

"Well we have to at least try… maybe tell them to wait it out for a week- and if we can't find anything horribly wrong and send them a message then they can come in…." you spoke looking to Chris and the Hunter.

He seemed to be normal enough- sure he didn't' like strangers but he helped you and the gang a lot these past couple days and it was obvious you were all pretty much a portion of the pack now.

"What would the message be…?" he spoke.

"Hm… a pager will be fine.. we need two though." You spoke sitting up.

He thought about it for a while before nodding.

"That's a good idea- they're so outdated if we can find ones that only respond to each other we wont be able to be tapped." He spoke thinking.

"We need to find an old electronics store- they have to have em' I know, my little cousin got one that he used to use with his mom for safety." He spoke nodding.

"It's like an old school walky-talky, except it can only do numbers." You smiled leaning back.

"I feel better- alright then, on the walk tomorrow lets talk about it." He spoke nodding as he let out a sigh of relief.

You were relieved too- this meant there could be a chance of escape and hope for them if things were all well. This was only to assure they would be treated right. You felt a little bad for the hunter but even worse for Chris… maybe you guys could disguise him…. That wouldn't' work…

"How high tech can they get these days… the infections only been around for a month maybe a couple weeks… this isn't some sci-fi movie… plus I heard only people who were immune could come in, it makes sense- start a civilization with only the immune." He spoke reassuring you both.

"If we can just get Chris to act normal I'm sure we can get in then. This guy… mm we should name him…." You spoke looking at his collar. No way were you naming him spike so you looked to Robert thinking of something.

"Mm… Spike, Spicer, Speir, Spencer…" he spoke naming off some of his international friends names.

"Spencer is the most normal… but he's not so much a Spencer… you spoke thinking idly. It was hard coming up with names….

He thought about it as well clicking his tongue quietly before looking to you.

"Serge?" he spoke.

You shook your head the animal coming over letting you pet his head.

"I think he needs a friendly name… like…. Alec." You spoke looking to him.

"You like Alec?" you spoke softly smiling petting his head.

The infected tilted his head before looking back forward.

"He hasn't denied it!" you smiled looking to the other.

"Alec it is." He spoke leaning back.

"Sleeping time?" you smiled looking to him leaning back on your side.

"Sleeping time."

6:32am

The morning was fast enough, something seemed to have tried to open the door but with everyone well rested and ready you were happy.

Robert had tied the ax to your back with a sash he made from the kitchen curtains and Chris gave you back your pistol for a sturdy metal shovel.

"Its better than my cane!" he spoke as you all walked through the fields.

There was still no zombies in sight as you all began to walk down the road.

Just mountains on both sides and the blue blue sky.

With a breath of fresh air and the clouds giving character to the sky you looked to Rob before he nodded.

"Alright uhm… here's how it's gonna go… Chris.." you looked to him making him blinkn frowning lightly understanding the tone.

"We don't exactly know… how they will treat you when we get to the marker so… try to act as NORMAL as possible… that means no… pink eyes or glowing eyes- keep your emotions in check and don't talk about being able to smell and hear really well alright?" you spoke to him in a serious manner.

For once he didn't ask questions or seem to have a double ended answer to that as you all continued.

"We need to find him regular clothes- he cant go walking around with a straight jacket anymore- that's already a dead giveaway." You spoke looking to Rob.

"When we get to town we'll get him a new one- we could use some new clothes too, who knows the condition that place will be in." he spoke beginning to feel more uneasy the farther you all traveled through the mountains.

What if it was horrible there… what if there wasn't enough food- or the people were treated poorly… he had gone to other countries where life was like that being others had all the power.

"Robert…." He saw you noticing his expression before giving a light sigh.

"Lets promise here and now… that if its not right there…. We try our best to get out." He spoke looking to you and the rest.

You smiled nodding holding out your pinky.

"Pinky promise." You spoke matter of factly as he smiled before linking his with yours.

As you all neared the place you could smell something burning. What was it was something you wouldn't need to know.

You could see the tops of a city ahead- a couple buildings looked destroyed on the inside but a few places stayed true.

"Do you know where to go from here?' you asked looking to him.

The sound of a radio went off cutting off his thoughts.

"God is here- we have come to save your souls on this hell of earth! Repent ye children of god- and we shall save you!"

Your eyes widened as you listened further- that echoing sound of some older male speaking to the heavens (and earth apparently).

You sighed softly walking closer to the sound. Kyousuke looked pissed.

"God has NEVER been here for me…" he spoke in a dark voice his eyes filled with hate.

You frowned softly not sure. You couldn't remember if you were religious or not but this seemed a bit like chanting.

As you three finally came to the city a lone zombie staggered away before someone seemed to shoot it with a loud sniper making everyone stop.

"Who goes there!" you looked up seeing a man in white dingy gowns holding up his hands.

"Wh-what?' you gasped looking through the windows- they were all filled with people who had guns.

"Wh-W-we're just trying to make our way through here! To the marker!" you spoke calling loudly- it was empty.

The hunter growled leaning against you as you pet him nervously.

"Are ye children of God?" as he spoke his old calloused finger shook pointing to the group.

Your eyes widened as you looked at the guns pointing towards you as well.

You wanted to tell him to shove it but that wasn't safe.

Robert growled before nodding.

"Y-yes… father we have come to be saved…"

A look of incredulousness went through the mans icy blue eyes before his hands lowered and he smiled.

The guns lowered as well.

Everyone smiled waving out the window.

"Welcome then, to Safe Haven!"

"Shit." Both you and Robert whispered.
